Sandra co-founded Sustainable Cascadia, a west coast bioregional initiative to achieve sustainability in one generation.
Sustainable Cascadia engages the participation of non-profits, municipalities, businesses and citizens in an ongoing action agenda. Sustainable Cascadia offers an annual event called the Cascadia Convergence over a 5 year timeframe to form ongoing communities of practice. Collaborative technology and networking infrastructure augment collaborative work between events.
Sandra initiated collaborations on program development, gained funding, engaged a fiscal sponsor (Sustainable Seattle), advisory board, and volunteers to start-up Sustainable Cascadia.
Sandra guided a team of volunteers to develop the vision for the 5 year initiative and produced a highly successful first event, Cascadia Convergence 2007. The event engaged over 40 organizations and 600 individuals to attend and begin to form a bioregional community of practice.
